The Lotus Family is excited to share another green innovation at our new location in San Rafael.
When Lotus Cuisine moved a block to 812 4th St. in 2020 we knew we wanted to add solar power to our green credentials.
Lotus Cuisine of India and Lotus Market which is located adjacent to our Indian restaurant has now been solar powered for one year! Our photovoltaic array on our rooftop is turning all the wonderful sunlight into electricity for us.
It’s only been operating for a year, but check out what generating our very own solar power has done for Lotus:
- Reduced CO2 emissions by over 80,000 lbs (This has reduced global warming as much as planting over 600 trees)
- Generated over 50MWh (one MWh powers the average US home for well over a month)
As an industry-leading green restaurant, we are always innovating and looking for ways to go green. Be it energy efficiency, zero waste, or organic meals, Lotus will continue to be as green as we can be. Lotus has also been recognized as one of the green businesses in the industry by the San Rafael Chamber and by the MCE Clean Energy. We encourage all our patrons to be more energy efficient and choose renewable energy.
