We here at Lotus would like to apologize for ZAGAT, which has NOT included either of our Lotus restaurants in their annual Bay Area Restaurant survey: https://www.zagat.com/survey/4316934.
You can imagine how upset we are with ZAGAT for not including us! ZAGAT simply says “If a restaurant is not in the survey it is likely they were removed due to low voter turn out the previous year.”
Help us let ZAGAT know that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE and that LOTUS should be included!
STEP ONE:
Please CONTACT ZAGAT and tell them to include LOTUS in their survey:

I am writing with news of a restaurant in my area that I believes warrants an full page article. I have never written in before, but this restaurant warrants it. I believe it is the only Indian restuarant of it’s sort. It has fantastic food, a beautiful atmosphere and is a hidden gem in San Rafael. The resturant is Lotus Cuisine of India. It is located at 704 Fourth Street in San Rafael as I mentioned. The menu has been recently changed (it was always excellent) to include use of organic food including chicken etc. and gluten free menu items. They are beyond the average accommodating restaurant in this manner. Often when asking for gluten free, I am served something tasteless and flat and at times am not even sure it truely is gluten free. Often it is disturbing to even ask the question of gluten free as the attitude of the waiters at many restaurants is slightly annoyed. Not the case here! The food is amazing and the owner will specifically come over to help make sure that you have many options that are delicious and safe. As a family owned business, the atmosphere is always warm, welcoming and authentic.
The decor of restaurant is unusual as well-the evening I was recently there the ceiling was open letting in the sky and views. The entire restaurant has been painted by the owner’s wife who is an artist with beautiful murals throughout. Not only is the restaurant beautiful and very comfortable but the service is great and the owner is always there walking around and talking to customers, making sure everyone is happy and well fed. For a newly (unfortuantely) gluten free foodie, it was heaven sent. Even the nan was able to be prepared gluten free, offering me up as great a dinner as I could desire using fresh organic ingredients while serving up delectible dishes. I was so taken by this place I had to write so that others could know about it. In the Bay Area, gluten free and organic are important selling points and it is difficult to find top restaurants that you can trust that serve good food. I am hoping you can do an article on this restaurant. The prices are good and the sound levels are low with beautiful music playing. For a reasonable price you get an amazing meal in a comfortable, restful, and beautiful space, even being gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan while your partner can eat away happily as well.
This was sent in to Datebook as well as Zagat. Hope others do the same. Great meal, great people. Thanks.
